History:
World Background:
Imagine the year is 2013: America is suffering from the largest national debt it's had in decades and is trying to pull itself out of a Depression that has left tens of thousands without jobs. Foreclosures are at an all time high as people struggle to keep their families under a roof that they can call 'home'. Gas prices have begun to impact the ability people have to even get to the jobs they already have. Health Care is laughable at best. Social Security, the very thing that some survive off of, is being threatened to be removed in the near future.

Japan has suffered a country altering earthquake and other natural disasters are becoming more and more the 'norm'. Countries have begun violent uprising against their tyrannical leadership. Things have, in all forms and manner, gone to hell in a hand-basket.

Oh, and the world is supposed to end in approximately a years' time.

You might think, that with all of this and so much more already occurring throughout the world, that people might have taken the news better.. or at least been less shocked by it all.

It was a regular day, or as regular as any other. There wasn't anything that made the unveiling day different than any other, but it was a different day. As different a day as any human might have ever considered possible. After all, it wasn't every day that mythical and mystical creatures suddenly made themselves very known to be both very real and very integrated into the world around us.

Teachers, doctors, students, political figures...Mothers, fathers, sons, daughters... Suddenly the world was inundated with the fantastical: vampires, werewolves (and other werebeasts), witches, ghosts, fairies, ghouls and so very much more. People were suddenly learning that creatures of legend and myth had been their neighbors, friends and co-workers for any number of years. Some 'normals' celebrated and some feared the knowledge that such creatures existed.

Of those that suddenly made their way into the spotlight, there was also a mixture of reactions and feelings. There were those that came out immediately, reveling in the opportunity to flaunt what they were to the world at large. There were those that chose to remain quiet about their given abilities or alternate forms, choosing to reveal it to only those they wished and at their own leisure. Others still had already made the choice to keep it to themselves and share their identities with no one.

In one moment, the world that people had known was forever changed and issues of bigotry and racism came to the fore more than they ever had been. Talks were quickly held about putting a 'Non-human Registration' into effect so there would be some way of keeping track of the non-humans.

Nothing had yet been finalized upon Alex's arrival at the Keep, but there was no small amount of unrest about the civil unfairness this registration would involve.

Alex Background:
Alex was your typical twenty year old male; well, that is, if you discounted that he happened to turn into a wereleopard and was paid to model women's fashions.

He had been one of those middle-runners after the 'big announcement' was made, neither flaunting nor hiding from his true self. He had come to terms with his change after contracting lycanthropy nearly four years previous.

Born and raised in Southern California, Alex was a rather extroverted child and found no small amount of love for the arts and homemaking. He also was a good deal 'prettier' than many of his schoolmates, earning him no small amount of jabs and ridicule. As if this were not enough to make the boy a target, the young Marsters boy found that his interests leaned not just toward young women, but young men as well. However, his parents and friends were more supportive than perhaps any child could hope for, standing up for him and allowing him to be anything and anyone he cared to be.

At age fifteen, Alex was approached by a modeling agency and soon after he began his career at modeling. Modeling female fashions seemed the smallest of steps to the young man, who felt that there was nothing wrong with dressing in or wearing clothing that wasn't 'made for him'. His opinion was then, and remained, "If I feel good and look good in a dress, I'll wear the dress." He has toured the globe for shows and even now, at nineteen, remains in the modeling world; although there was a short time after turning seventeen that he was forced to take a leave of absence for .. personal reasons.

An unhinged fan, taking offense both at Alex's sexuality and his cross-dressing career choice, caught the young model off guard as he was leaving a show in Milan. His fellow models watched on, horrified, as the man proceeded to brutally beat Alex. Alex, though feminine and fey by nature, was not the most delicate of flowers. With his own well-being at risk, the young man fought back for all he was worth, drawing blood from his assailant.

It seemed like the fair-haired model might even win the exchange until the grubby local drew a knife and plunged it into Alex's trim form. In the ensuing chaos that followed, the man was caught by local law enforcement and Alex was brought to the hospital. No one thought anything of the man's cries of, "We'll see if you're so pretty next month!!!" It wasn't until the first full moon that the full levity of his words would be known to Alex, who had unknowingly been infected by the man's own lycanthropy during the fight.

The first signs were small ones: a heightening of his senses that he hadn't had before. He noticed that he seemed to heal pretty quickly when he'd gotten hurt a time or two, no visible scarring or marks remaining afterward, and he'd been known to move or break things that he shouldn't have been otherwise able to do. He couldn't quite explain the increase in his sexual appetites or the fact that certain things just felt different; how his skin simply felt alive and practically tingled. He'd have no way of knowing until after his first change that this was a sixth sense and that he was actually 'feeling' other creatures of myth and legend (just as readily as they felt him).

His first change, brought on forcefully at the next full moon, was painful and terrifying and it was only luck that sent him stumbling into the California desert, to be found by a local pack of werewolves. The pack nursed him through his first change and began the process of introducing the young leopard to his new way of life. For every question they answered, Alex had three more to take the place. It was a slow journey, but with time and patience, Alex found that he could live his life and make the best of it even with his 'monthly visitor'. He has continued to model and make a lucrative life for himself out of doing such, taking classes at the local community college during his off time.

He was on his way back to his apartment, heels on and earbuds in, when he gets ends up in Holloway's Keep.

While at Holloway's, Alex adapted to the notion that he wasn't going to go home anytime soon; in fact, he and the other residents we told that their worlds were entirely gone. Some believed this far easier than others, but everything that they were being shown left little doubt in Alex's own mind.

Alex found a niche for himself rather easily, taking over the Keep bower and sewing duties for all residents. He'd also mill around the kitchen and keep the cook company and putter around when the opportunity arose. All in all, he was quite the happy homemaker; or at least as happy as he could keep himself... mostly. But... the full moon came around and fucked that all up.

During the full moon, Alex tried to remove himself from all other residents, but failed rather miserably. He changed and lost all control of himself, mauling and slaughtering several innocent Keep residents; several of whom had been rather close friends before the mauling. Trapped in a kitchen freezer until he turned back human again, he was healed by the Keep doctor, Sycora, and sent on his way... only things were hardly that simple. Unlike every time before coming to the Keep, there remained telltale scarring along his back, ribs, and left thigh. He was taken captive by the Keep and given a punishment suiting his crime; at least in their eyes. He was put in stocks made of silver and given eighty lashes, left for 48 hours after receiving a salt-water dousing. His back was a ruin, but eventually healed to faded scars like those healed by Sycora. However, his wrists and neck bore the worst scars after the extended exposure to the silver of the stocks, appearing the worst of the scarring even after 1 1/2 years at the Keep.

However, it wasn't all bad at the Keep and the good (generally) outweighed the bad. While there were several that didn't necessarily forgive his mauling and killing fellow residents (even if out of his control (thanks, Sollux)), Alex had friends that he loved and was loved by. There were several other shifters in the Keep that he grew close to, but none as much as Derek Souza, a werewolf, and Derek's girlfriend, Chloe, a necromancer. The two became his pack and when Chloe suddenly vanished from the Keep, the weres served as support for one another. There was also Anders (ala Dragon Age), Alex's first long term and wholly committed relationship. The two formed a love for one another after a lengthy courtship, initiated by Alex, and helped maintain one another's sanity.

Abilities:
Bulleted for your pleasure:
• Metahuman strength, endurance, and agility in all forms
• Enhanced healing abilities in all forms (*see below for breakdown)
• Shape-shifting: human, leopard, were
-Alex can change freely between his three forms with the following note: he must change form on the full moon. While the full moon holds it place in the sky, Alex surrenders to his beast and, while retaining human intelligence, his only goal is to kill and satiate his blood lust. He does not differentiate between friend or foe during this time; everyone is prey.
• Weakness to silver
-A wound inflicted by silver takes far longer to heal than normal; as if Alex had no additional healing abilities (normal human healing). If the silver item is kept within the wound site (ie: bullet, knife), it will not begin to heal until removed and can bring on blood poisoning like symptoms.

*As a were-creature, Alex can naturally heal quicker than his human counterparts. Smaller wounds (cuts/scrapes) will heal within minutes, while larger wounds (stab wounds/bullets/slices) can take one or more hours. Large injuries, such as broken limbs or gaping wounds can take several days' depending on their severity. When the moon is closer to being full (or is full), his abilities are augmented and work at a faster pace. There have been rumors that it is possible to heal from the loss of a limb, but as Alex has never had this problem (nor knows anyone directly effected), this is simply conjecture.

Presentation:
Human form:
6'2" / 143lbs
Blonde hair // waist length, wavy
Eyes: blue-green
Body type: fit and toned

Leopard form:
Typically colored leopard, blue-green eyes, about 1/2 again as large as a non-lycanthropic leopard. (Think somewhere between the average average lioness and tiger in size/weight, rather than a leopard: approx 300lbs)

Were form:
He can also take a form that is a classic 'were' animal, half man and half animal, with speaking abilities.
6'9" / 373 lbs

When he arrived at Holloway's Keep:
Alex was raised by a loving and very accepting mother and father who taught their son that he could be anything and everything he wanted to be; no matter what stigma might be connected to it. They didn't bat an eye when their son came out to them fairly young in life, knowing that he wasn't the same as the other young men around him. It was because of this nurturing nature of his parents that Alex was able to be himself growing up.

Sweet, funny, loving. A lover of the arts and music and fully capable of seeing the inner and outer beauty in anyone. Trusting, at times, almost to a fault. Quick to laugh and slow to anger, though his anger (like any wereleopard) is a force to be reckoned with. Passionate and protective of those he loves, he can be highly emotive when stressed or pushed too hard.

Sexual by nature, he doesn’t think twice about certain things and strives for physical contact. In the world of were-creatures, physical contact is not always about sex, but comfort and love as well.

Sexually, Alex will swing either way, although he has most frequently found his flavors tend to run in the male direction.

By the time he's left Holloway's:
First and foremost, Alex has begun to fill out physically, although it has not at all lessened his ethereal androgyny. Faded scars remain where they never wholly faded after healing, the worst being around his wrists and neck; result of his time in the silver stockade. For all that, however, he still very much carries himself as if there are no visible scars; or at least that he doesn't care that he has them. Honestly, they are reminders of how easily he can harm those around him if he doesn't take proper precautions; even if those in his path are friends or loved ones.

He still carries himself with confidence and shows he world a light heart and easy smile, but there is a wariness about him that wasn't there when he arrived at the Keep. The many horrors he faced there, both of himself and at the hands of the Keep itself have brought out a caution that he never before had and that he'll never lose. He tries a measure of calm in any scenario, acting as the voice of reason whenever possible.

He is still a shameless flirt, doing so with his beloved Mage, his pack mates and anyone else that looks to need a bit of attention. He can see beauty in anyone and has learned to value people for their differences far more than he ever had; both in appearance and ability. He still tries to see the good in every situation and person, but his past at the Keep has hardened him a good deal. Though still extroverted, he maintains a cautious edge around anyone he's just meeting, even while welcoming them with a warmth that seems entirely sincere.

He remains now and forever passionately protective of those he cares about.

Motivations:
Alex is now and has always been motivated by those around him, and since ending up at the Keep, those would be they that he's become closest to. Not only that, but he tries to do the right thing wherever and whenever possible. He had a degree of naivete, even after his attack in Milan, that he didn't really lose until coming to the Keep. While still trying to see the best in people, Alex knows that it's hardly a black and white world, and that shades of grey are far more likely to make up any situation he encounters. Alex likes bringing happiness to those around, but more importantly, he wants to see those he cares about protected and safe.

He would like to see his own world again, at some point, but would be just as happy being able to settle down somewhere safe with his 'pack'. He's hellbent on seeing that they aren't harmed and on doing whatever is needed to get them out of harm's way.

SETTING
Shuffle Information: The Game's system of war works based on a shuffle. This means that your offworld character may be changed over several times over the course of the war, from the Capitol's side to the Rebellion's. Remember that all new offworlders will start on the Capitol's side. Your character should have a reason to work for both.

For the sake of being thorough, we further ask that Panem AUs also provide this information in case of any future decisions on the player's part. Panem AUs will start on whatever side they are apped to.

Rebellion Role: How will they work in the war? A propoganda icon? A soldier? A nurse?

Rebellion Motivations: Give at least one reason your character would serve the Rebellion. This could involve being forced, brainwashed, blackmailed, and so on if you wish.

Capitol Role: How will they work in the war? A propoganda icon? A soldier? A nurse?

Capitol Motivations: Give at least one reason your character would serve the Capitol. This could involve being forced, brainwashed, blackmailed, and so on if you wish.

Preferred side: ICly and OOCly would prefer the side of the Rebellion, but I'll go wherever needed! :3

SAMPLES
First Person Thread: An example of a first person post, at least 200 words minimum. Feel free to use introspection and scene setting if your character is not chatty. Please use one of the two following prompts:

For Offworlders: After your first death in battle, you have been chosen to serve as propoganda for the Rebellion or the Capitol. It was violent, messy, and unexpected and just as suddenly, people are asking for you to be their voice.

All you have to do is talk into the device you've been provided to record your feelings and leave your mark in the war. It is quite clear you won't be left alone until you make that recording. Let everyone see what this war really means, they say.

All of Panem is watching.

Prose: 200 word minimum. To mimic the style of the game, please write your third person sample based on the following prompt:

A bomb has just gone off in the middle of the battlefield. You're blown back by the blast but when you manage to get up, you find you were one of the lucky ones. People have been left dead and injured all around you, some of them Peacekeepers, some of them Districters, some offworlders, each could be on any given side.

You've still got your weapon-- even if it wasn't really a weapon before the bomb found you. It's broken, but the jagged edge of it could still bring about a painful death. You also know where the nearest make-shift hospital happens to be. That's not all though. You also happen to know the bomb that just went off will do so again. And so you've got a choice:

You can save yourself. You can be merciful. Or you can discard mercy all together and attempt to enact vengeance, removing the chance of a quick and painless death.

Your team watches from a distance, too far to do anything but wait and see what you'll do. Even the little things can make a difference in war. What sort of difference do you intend to make?
